Cloud computing isn’t really a business area or a end user solution. Cloud computing is a provisioning model to get computing and storage resources. It seems that cloud computing is for IT personnel only. Nevertheless Tempestive considers it very important for the end user, too.
Cloud computing gives a new dimension to the companies that are adopting it. In the past you can design and realize systems that can scale and are resilient and secure but often you were limited by the hardware where you need to deploy them. Using cloud computing the problem is over. Eliminating this type of limits can give to the IT people and to the business users new possibilities.
Cloud computing gives you a different way to reach better result and public cloud can extend your solutions above the boundary of the company, too.
Today Tempestive is using cloud computing to realize and migrate solutions that are selling as SAAS (for example see Activity or GhostWriter). But it is using cloud computing to realize custom solutions specially tailored for specific clients, too. Tempestive found that many traditional areas can benefit from cloud computing. Solutions that work in BPM areas or solutions that use SOA fit very well in a cloud platform. The same is for solutions that require computing power, big storage and strong security. In the Smarter Planet area, cloud computing can give the power necessary to manage all the data that come from the real world.
There are public cloud (like Windows Azure) or private cloud. Tempestive thinks that the boundary between these two type of cloud computing models doesn’t need to exists. Public cloud is the continuation of private cloud and vice versa. Again the internal infrastructure can benefit a lot using a cloud computing provisioning model.
Tempestive realized systems on public and private cloud and helped several companies to move applications or to realize a private cloud infrastructure.
Tempestive is quite agnostic about technology and vendors.
Nevertheless Tempestive was impressed by the quality and the roadmaps of Microsoft products involved in cloud computing. Windows o.s., Hyper-V, System Center and Windows Azure create a very strong foundation for really using cloud computing to reach results. Tempestive worked on virtualization solutions from the beginning and is moving many of the first generation solutions to Microsoft platform because it is very affordable and powerful. The combination of public and private cloud infrastructures based on Microsoft technology is very effective.
Tempestive leveraged its strong relationship with Microsoft to build an offering on cloud computing. Today it is a Microsoft Partner with Gold Virtualization specialization, with experience in System Center family of products. Tempestive early moved some solutions on Windows Azure and it is in the exclusive Windows Azure Inner Circle program.
Today many of Tempestive SAAS solutions are using Windows Azure. And many Tempestive customer systems are using Hyper-V and System Center to realize a private cloud infrastructure.
