Project objectives:
The LESS project, which started on April 1st 2017, aims to develop a software di simulation environment to assess the energy performance of different types of ships, primarily cruise ships, considering a variety of plant configurations. In particular, it allows to evaluate alternative plant configurations for heat recovery considering a variety of operating conditions representative of one or more operating profiles, in order also to evaluate and optimize energy efficiency through cogeneration and appropriate recovery systems. Data from different configurations of engine rooms, plants and energy recovery components are combined to quickly compare design solutions, coupled with energy and environmental considerations.
The LESS simulation environment, developed by Tempestìve, can ensure the optimal management of simulation scenarios, plant configurations, plant components and the evaluation of KPIs allowing the designer, from the earliest stages of the design process, to be able to process energy performance for different plant solutions more quickly. This will reduce engineering time nd allow quick verification of the efficiency of specific design schemes with still preliminary design data.
